Our 5 night stay at the Point Villas is one of the most peaceful & rejuvenating experiences we've had as a family. Simply put, the villa exudes class. Important to us; even the kids could 'get it'. It has an understated luxury that is never fussy, but finds that rare balance between effortlessness, style, design & function that makes a stay here an uplifting experience.

Our activities on this trip emphasised the incredible fresh water Lake Taupo. The Lake view from the villas is arguably the most impressive and endearing aspect of a stay here. It is vast and inspiring from morning to evening, ensuring we swam, paddled and explored it daily. The Point villas is situated just above the incredible & humbling Maori rock carvings of Taupo Lake. A solo paddle on the provided kayaks in the early evening is simply awesome.

Our 6 & 8 year old boys have swam near constantly in the new mineralised water lap pool which melds with the lake view perfectly, making those endless 'look at me mum/dad' moments particularly harmonious and easy to bear while lounging on the deck.

The usual facilities are all here, from flat screens in each room to wifi to life's various other mod cons. While Taupo's many excellent adventure tourism concepts await just outside the gates, you get the feeling the Point Villas' proprietor Peg Bull has had time to refine (indeed redefine) the definition of a luxury break within. The land has been in her family for generations - let's hope it stays that way.

The Point Villas are located in a tranquil and secure gated environment a short 10 minute drive from Taupo. My initial impressions upon entering the villa were sheer excitment and delight given the quality of the decor and the stunning view with the infinity pool in the foreground. The secure environment provides a fantastic location for a family break given the number of activities available such as kayaking on the lake (and being able to view the stunning Maori carvings), walks along the lake foreshore, tennis, fishing swimming, etc, etc.

A real highlight of the stay was a hot bath on a rainy afternoon with full floor to ceiling glass windows overlooking the lake and native bush - lovely.

All needs where fully catered for and if anything was required the friendly and helpful hosts were only too happy to address your needs.

We enjoyed the stay so much, we changed our travel plans to enable us to stay another night.

Thank you very much for your hospitality over the last few days. Even though the weather didn’t play its part fully we had a lovely time and you have a beautiful property in a great location. Once again many thanks for making us feel so welcome. We look forward to visiting the Point Villas again on our next trip to your part of the world.

“What a wonderful retreat, so peaceful and beautiful... We couldn't have asked for anything more. To be surrounded by tropical birds and a small waterfall whilst bathing was delightful, private and peaceful. Thank you for making us so welcome in your beautiful home.”

“I was fortunate enough to meet Peg, the proprietress of The Point Villas in Taupo New Zealand on our recent trip to New Zealand. The Point Villas is an incredible piece of paradise that should meet the needs of any discerning traveler. Peg's attention to detail (this included freshly made pancake mix ready for our breakfast), and her willingness to personally be there to meet all our needs and answer any queries, makes me happy to highly recommend The Point Villas as a travel destination for fellow travel associates.”

"For guests, the challenge is deciding which of the two Villas to stay in. Villa One (Tatamoana), the lower dwelling, has the expansive lake vistas & wraparound deck, while Villa Two (Ngahere) seems more spacious and on two levels"

“An alternative to staying at a luxury lodge while retaining accommodation and servicing options at the same level of indulgence and seclusion.”

“The Point has practical and luxury facilities you could find anywhere in the world but it has one very big extra – it is in a clean, unspoiled and natural environment.”

I am ever so sorry it has taken me so long to comment on one of the most beautiful places in the world! The views are truely magnificent and I very much enjoyed my time at the point. Working as a nanny for a family with two childrn, I thought it would be difficult to fully relax wherever I was...not in this place! I was completely at one with the environment. The owners are two of the nicest people you will ever meet and will go out of their way to ensure you have the best stay possible. One thing is for sure... I will under no uncertain terms, be back to the Point Villas!

“Careful positioned in the bush on the lake edge, there’s a special silence, an all-encompassing stillness, breached only by the occasional burst of bird song.”

Thank you for nice and beautiful house. We enjoyed you and this house. New Zealand is my favourite country. How I love it! I am sure we will come back again. I told to my husband "I don't want to rent this but I want to buy."
