Superb skiing for beginners and advanced

Mt Ruapehu is New Zealand offers New Zealand’s largest skifields. Only 1.5 hours drive or minutes by helicopter are the north-east facing slopes of Mt Ruapehu. From late June to late October, 21 lifts access 43 on piste trails spread over 500 hectares, offering a good mix of runs for all abilities of skiers and snowboarders.

A little further afield is the south-west facing Turoa slopes of Mt Ruapehu. Here is the most extreme vertical drop of any ski area in the whole of Australasia. Turoa has 9 lifts and also boasts 500 hectares of runs and an equivalent off piste ski area. Ski hire is available either in Taupo or on the mountain.
