The Wairakei International Golf Course
is only 15 minutes from The Point Villas
and is rated in the top 20 golf courses
in the world (outside USA). This is 450 hectares of beautiful golf course featuring 108 strategically positioned bunkers that ensure a challenging experience. The infamous “The Rogue” found on hole 14, a par 5 hole, really tests golfers with its bunkers and trees.

Wairakei International Golf Course

The new Kinloch Golf Club in Taupo opened in late 2007 to international acclaim ("top new course in the world outside North America" in 2007, Travel & Leisure Golf Magazine). It is one of only three Jack Nicklaus Signature Courses in Australasia, and the only one in New Zealand. Designed on the volcanic pumice soils alongside Lake Taupo, the course measures up to 6593 metres and is a stern challenge of golf, yet one which often leaves even the most seasoned golfer thinking after their round, "How did I give up so many shots?"

The course is beautiful in design and undoubtedly one of Jack Nicklaus’ best to date, with rustic bunkering a highlight along with impressive undulations in both fairways and greens. Don’t take any shot for granted, since there is not one on this course that does not require 100% attention!

It is a masterful links-like creation from a masterful player and designer, and can realistically expect to be ranked as one of the top two courses in New Zealand.
